Upcoming Netflix K-drama Trailer Revealed
Can Romantics Anonymous save the sad state of 2025 rom-coms? I hope so.
Romantics Anonymous
Released October 16th 2025
The new trailer for Romantics Anonymous has just dropped, and I'm genuinely hopeful this series will salvage what has been a rather disappointing year for romance and rom-com Asian dramas. This upcoming Japanese-South Korean production is based on the 2010 French-Belgian film, Les Émotifs Anonymes. A relatively short run with only 8 episodes, I was excited to discover the adapted script is written by Okada Yoshikazu, who wrote Beyond Goodbye and Kim Ji Hyun, writer and director of one of my favourite historic rom-coms Splash Splash Love; so I am hopeful this will be a tightly written story with some interesting characters, like in the aforementioned dramas.
What immediately caught my eye is the pairing of one of my favorite Korean actresses, Han Hyo-joo (I loved her in Moving, W and The Beauty Inside) with Japanese actor Shun Oguri, from the live-action version of Gintama. Purely from the trailer, I'm already charmed by the prospect of a food-themed romance like so many others that I have enjoyed i.e. Oh My Ghost, Wok of Love, Chocolate to name a few. We're introduced to two intriguing characters whose career goals appear to clash, both navigating their own mental health struggles, with romance being the furthest thing from their minds – especially with each other.
The entire setup feels incredibly sweet and promising, and yes, we all spied a potential SLS (Second Lead Syndrome) situation. This drama has quickly jumped to the top of my must-watch list!
